The change in people’s attitude toward the environment will not happen overnight. A lot of us will still use plastic bags when we shop because it is what the stores give us. We will continue using fossil fuels to fill our vehicles until a cheaper and more practical source can be found. There are a lot of other examples which will only clearly illustrate this point.
But of course we could start changing the world and people’s attitude in small steps for now. We can create awareness among our families and circle of friends. And what better way to let them appreciate the environment than by giving them earth friendly gifts. But what do we give them and how can we make sure that the gifts that we give are indeed earth-friendly? Let the tips below be your guide.
- First thing you have to look into is the material used in making the gift. Is it renewable? Can it be recycled or is it made of recycled materials? Will it cause harm to the environment if disposed of? Those are just some of the considerations you have to make with regards to the material.
- Also, you have to know where a particular item was made. If for example you find a gift made of wood but is made in a country where there is massive deforestation, then you should by all means avoid buying that product.
- When you’ve found that perfect gift for a loved one, you might choose to have it gift wrapped. But instead of using paper wrappers, you can instead choose to buy ones that are made of recycled or recyclable materials. And if you want to be a bit stylish, you can choose a fabric wrapper instead. At least it can be reused and used in several different ways.
